The smallest change that makes the biggest difference in your success

John Grinder

Carmen Bostic St Clair is the CEO and founder of Quantum Leap, the company Carmen and John conduct their corporate work through. She is also a co-developer of New Code NLP. Carmen has held senior political research posts in government administration. (The White House Committee of the Development of Small Business) and Business Advisory Council representative from California. Carmen began her professional life as a school teacher. She won the National Teacher of the Year Award in the USA. Carmen holds an MBA and a doctorate in Jurisprudence. She was Director of Mergers and Acquisitions directing a multi-billion dollar acquisitions through her excellent negotiation skills. World leaders and the highest ranking corporate executives receive their most advanced training from John and Carmen. When the world’s top government and corporate organizations have a seemingly untenable problem they call upon the wisdom of Grinder and Bostic St Clair to save the day. Organizations such as NASA and the most successful of the US Fortune 500 rely on the duo’s expertise to keep them ahead in their field.

Mrs Bostic St Clair, Mr Grinder, what is the origin of neuro-linguistic programming? What stands behind the abbreviation NLP?

“Neuro-linguistic programming (or NLP Classic code) is a collection of patterns captured through the process of modeling of the performance of geniuses – through this process (NLP modeling), the differences that distinguish the performance of geniuses from average performances are extracted from the behavior of geniuses and make available to other professionals in the field. This technology was co-created by Richard Bandler and myself, John Grinder, in the 1970s. It was based on the study of language, communication and personal change. NLP explores the relationship between how we think (neuro), how we communicate both verbally and non verbally (linguistic) and our patterns of behavior and emotions (programming).”A key element of NLP is that we form our unique internal mental maps of the world as a product of the way we filter and perceive information absorbed through our five senses from the world around us. NLP is about how we think, feel, behave, and communicate. As mentioned above, the specific challenge of NLP is to find the set of differences that make the difference between the performance of geniuses and that of average performers in the same field or activity. In this sense, the objective of NLP techniques such as the modeling for example is to explicate in a transferable and learnable code these sets of differences. In three words, NLP is the study of excellence. In our books and articles we bring greater clarity, precision and understanding about the truly unique contributions of NLP.In the mid 80’s Delozier and I created the New Code in NLP and since the late 80’s, there has been a rush of patterning by myself and Carmen Bostic St. Clair -  a powerful set of formats where the Practitioner through games, behavioral tasking, and other processes engage the client in a high performance state to leverage in everyday life.”

How would you explain the growing interest in NLP?

We suspect that the answer to this question is disarmingly simple - the patterning of NLP derived from the modeling of geniuses works - people in business make decisions based on consequences (at least when they are successful) and would therefore naturally be attracted to body of patterning that allows them to succeed. We note in passing that alongside this first answer to the question is a growing hunger for choice in the world - people are less and less patient with traditions that either do NOT deliver quality of life or are repressive in the sense of removing choices from those people’s lives - whether the context is business or personal. As NLP in its application focuses directly on the creation of choices in exactly those contexts where people lack choice. Choice is the consequence of the congruent application of NLP patterning.

Can you tell us about famous business people worldwide that apply NLP?

As present, it is impossible to attend a leadership or management training in north America or western Europe where less than half of the patterns are from the NLP set. The identity of the source of these models is a NOT the issue - the more interesting question is not which famous business people apply NLP (to some degree all successful business people apply some of these patterns), but whether you yourself can make use of the patterns derived from the practice of such geniuses to succeed at your own objectives.. NLP is the modeling and transfer of patterns of genius and their implementation into action. It is about excellence in every sphere of your life, it is about modeling successful people. If you are in a difficult situation, NLP will help you to find the needed resources in you, to find the answer in you and to apply it to your everyday life and problems. It will give you some examples:For one of my clients, CEO in production company, NLP training learned her how to expand her own efforts and also what it means to be a leader – the ability to create context in which other players are enthusiastic, and own the projects that drive the success of the company. For another client, a professional athlete who was always very good at her sport but collapsed under the pressure of competition. She would perform beautifully until the finals –then she would choke. She now finishes in front, and does so on her own terms. From my point of view NLP is about unlocking our potential in business, in sport, in life. NLP gives strategies for exploring the realm of human possibility and put away the limitations that we are experiencing. NLP practitioners that we train in the NLP academy are agents of change who help you to achieve your professional and personal dreams.  For example our clients today are not only looking for a coach, but for a NLP coach.

What problems does NLP resolve? And what problems is it not possible to overcome with NLP?

 .

May I be blunt - the patterning of NLP - the patterns of excellence identified and coded through the process of NLP modeling - constitute a technology: a set of procedures that when followed intelligently gives choices both to the agent of change in his or her task of creating a context in which the client can make successful and ecological changes in the quality of his or her life. As with any technology, the actual results, the consequences of applying the patterning in the technology, will vary according to the skill levels and intellectual competencies of those applying the patterning.

I would respectfully propose that the question of what NLP can resolve or not resolve is better formulated as a question about what some specific person, well-trained in the patterning of NLP, can resolve or not resolve.

An excellent agent of change working as a consultant, for example, applying the coded patterns of excellence congruently can turn a company around in a matter of weeks. However, this depends in part on the congruent commitment of the formal leadership to serve as models of the changes that they wish to introduce into the company and the identification and recruitment of the informal leaders within the company to work alongside them. If these two groups of leaders are congruently behind the change, it takes a surprisingly short period of time (measured in weeks) and a very small percentage of the company directly involved to make a deep changes in the processes that determine the success and profitability of the company as well as the quality of work experience for all levels of the company – there are, of course, important considerations to be factored into such an endeavour such as market conditions, competitive analysis, the financial context, etc. Carmen Bostic St. Clair and myself have worked in major companies and created successful re-organization of the company, by harnessing the appropriate participation of the key members of the company with less than 2 weeks of on-site work. On the other hand, the modeling of a brilliant performer or team of top performers and the roll-out of the resulting model to the rest of the company could take twice as long depending on the complexity of the skill sets to be modelled and distributed.

Who can practice the NLP techniques? Are there some international organizations regulating the NLP training process? Can you recommend a certification course?

Anyone who has the interest and the personal discipline to practice in appropriate contexts can not only practice but also master the patterning of NLP. Remember, NLP began as a modeling technology - one of the key points of modeling is to reduce a complex set of patterns to an explicit model that is simple enough to be encoded and transfer well.

Your question about what"s on offer is important as NLP training organization are numerous and unfortunately there are a number of people presenting themselves as qualified NLP trainers whose simply are not qualified. This is a serious issue for me as the co-creator of the technology. Some years ago, Carmen Bostic St. Clair, Michael Carroll (owner/operator of the NLP Academy in England) and myself determine to set a appropriate (high) standard for training. With this intention, we founded the ITA (International Trainers Association). For the last 4 years, we have developed a series of training courses to position in the market a set of trainers with the requisite skill sets and deep background knowledge required to offer the high quality training experiences that the public seeks and deserves. We have also created and published designs for training for practitioners and other specialities consistent with these patterns. Thus, anyone with a signed certificate as an ITA trainer will have passed through something of an ordeal by fire (the requirement for becoming a ITA trainer are so high that typically 1/3 of those people who attend and participate as ITA candidate trainers fail to meet the requirement the first time. They are given precise feedback about what"s in the gap between their present skill levels and knowledge background and the requirements that we insist on at the ITA. Along with specific recommendations as to exercises and drills. they are invited to return when they have brought their skill levels and background knowledge up to speed for a re-test. Our signature on their certificate is our guarantee to the market that this person is truly qualified to pass on the patterning of NLP to interested participants. A listing of these trainers is available at /span>http://www.itanlp.com/

мерси за коментара, но отношението е не само негативно, но и арогантно. това е оригиналната статия, публикувана по този начин в сп. Мениджър. Мисля, че това е достатъчно смислено обяснение.
